• Question: are you doing this just for the money

      No – given the number of participants it is unlikely that I will win. The idea seems a laugh, though, and may even encourage some people to study science.

      no, i’m doing it because it’s an excellent platform to talk to as many students as i can about the joys of science (and in particularly laser plasmas). I also think it’s a great opportunity for you guys to learn what’s like to be a scientist. I hope to show you that it’s not as scary or nerdy as some people think and that it’s actually a really varied and enjoyable thing to do. it’s going to take up a lot of our time (so it has be about more than the money) but I’m very happy to do it because i really enjoy science communication.
