• Question: Can the DNA of plants or simple organisms be altered without any specialist equipment?

      I am not an expert, but I am pretty sure you need specialist equipment to do the whole procedure, because you need to get the new DNA into the cell. I think this often done with the help of a virus that carries it there, so perhaps once someone has prepared the virus and given it to you, you can inject it without specialist equipment.

      Of course, what you can do quite easily is hand pollinate a plant with other plant’s pollen and that way control the DNA in a very rough way to obtain some characteristics you want.
