• Question: do you think that ever in the future you would be able to create a black hole?

      If general relativity is correct, it would be very hard. You would have to pack the whole Earth into a volume of just one cubic centimeter. But who knows, maybe in the distant future we’ll be able to do that.

      I think for some time there was concern that CERN might be able to generate microscopic black holes. These are so small that they generally evaporate into nothingness (due to something called Hawking Radiation) very quickly and so cause no harm. Maybe it’ll be these microscopic ones that we end up making first. I’ll definitely defer to Arttu’s expertise on this one tho!
