  I’d say my work takes up just about as much as anyone else’s. Normally my weekends and most evenings are free to go to pubs and gigs, to go visit friends and do sports etc.

  Research tends to fill all available time, so it is important to reserve time also for “normal” things, or otherwise you’ll go crazy. My family is really important for me, and therefore I make sure that I also spend time with them. In particular, kids grow quickly and I would really hate to miss the time when they are young.
