• Question: If you want to do Astro Physics as a career, do you have to take Astronomy GCSE?

      No i don’t think you have to specialise at all at GCSE. It certainly shows that you’re keen which is always a good thing, but I think the only things that you have to do are choose physics and maths options so that you can do physics and maths a-levels and then go on to do a physics degree. Also, astronomy and astro physics are slightly different in that astronomy is what the universe is made up of and astro physics is the study of how it got there and how it’s evolving over time (but you’ll learn more about that at a-level).

      No, you will need good maths and physics GCSEs. I don’t even know if astronomy GCSE exists, but if it does then it cannot hurt.
