I think Einstein said something along the lines of ‘the eternal mystery of the world is its comprehensibility’. I’ve gotta agree with that. It’s just cool that logic and reason are so good at helping to describe the universe.

I’ve always been blown away at how we have been able to describe how things work by mathematics and science. there’s something rather beautiful in being able to map out the world around us in equations and theory and that us humans have been able to figure out the story of science

Science is a way of knowing things, in fact I might argue it is the *only* way we can know things. The great thing about science is that if I tell you something is true then it doesn’t matter who I am (me, your science teacher, Albert Einstein…) you don’t have to simply *believe* me because the scientific way of knowing things says you are able to test what I say with experiments.

This is the important and unique thing about science and the scientific revolution. Before the scientific revolution, knowledge was handed down in dusty old books by respected ancient philosophers. Science respects no one though – science is a living subject and scientific knowledge is subject to constant testing and updating.

For me the most incredible thing about science is that we, small irrelevant creatures made of carbon and other chemicals, living on a rock orbiting one of billions of star on the outskirts of one unremarkable galaxy, have actually been able to develop such a detailed and accurate understanding of the universe.
