So the experiments that I have been involved in over the past 3 years for my PhD have been in various labs across the world and are all largely the same (shooting a laser pulse at a small target). The new stuff that I am writing up at the moment involves looking at the relationship between the energy (in joules) of the laser pulse and the number of protons that are in the proton beam that I can produce using my laser plasma interaction. I’m also looking at a method of increasing the number of protons we can accelerate in one interaction, by using 2 laser pulses that are separated by a trillionth of a second, instead of just 1 laser pulse. This has never been looked at experimentally before so I conducted the experiments and now I am writing up the results to form my PhD thesis
