      i like your answer james! i’ve always thought that the meaning of life is to freely exist, think, share your life and thoughts with others to further the ability of mankind and reproduce.

      That is a question we’ll probably never be able to answer, so ultimately you have to follow James’s advice and choose what you want it to be.

      However, science can and should influence the way we think about it. Just imagine how differently people must have thought about it when they did not know that there are billions of stars just like the sun and probably billions of planets just like the Earth in the universe, when they did not know about genetics and evolution, and when they did not know about peculiarities of quantum mechanics such as Schrodinger’s cat which is alive and dead at the same time. One could say that scientific discoveries haven’t helped us answer the question and have perhaps made us even more confused, but still we cannot ignore them.
