Beijing is pretty cool – It’s not like Europe either, where you can bet that someone close by will speak English. Once you get over the language barrier (or have a native speaker with you!) you’ll find the people are, well pretty much the same as anywhere, friendly, funny and happy to help. They like to haggle for things you buy, which is fun once you get into it. The street food is good (and didn’t cause me any digestive track problems!), and it’s big. Really big. It also has an energy about it, there are cranes everywhere and new skyscrapers seem to be popping up every week. It’s definitely an interesting place to visit (also it has the forbidden palace and the great wall of china, both of which it’s nice to say you’ve seen).
